Introduction

This section sets out the terms and conditions governing the “Mbasela Rewards” program (hereinafter referred to as the “Program”) offered by Quickfive Retail Stores Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Quickfive”) at all stores and participating partners (hereinafter referred to as “Affiliates”). The terms and conditions define the relationship between Quickfive Retail Stores Limited and customers enrolled in the Mbasela Rewards Program. The Mbasela Rewards program is valid exclusively at Quickfive stores and Affiliates.

 

Definitions

For the purposes of this section, the following terms shall have the meanings specified below:

  • Quickfive Retail Stores Limited: The Company that manages and promotes the “Mbasela Rewards” program.

  • Store/Affiliate: A Quickfive store offering the Mbasela Rewards Program. 

  • Program: The Mbasela Rewards Program.

  • Customer or Member: An individual who has enrolled in the Program through registration. 

  • Mbasela Points: The accumulated units within the Mbasela Rewards Program.

  • Quick-It Member: A member level that enables a customer to ‘scan, pay and go’ for up to ten (10) items, i.e., self-checkout.

  • Mbasela Discount: A product discount offered exclusively to Mbasela Rewards members.

 

Program Membership and Registration

The Program is open to individuals aged 18 years and above. To join the Program, a customer must register to become a member. Registration can be done in-store, via WhatsApp, or through the Quickfive website or mobile app. During registration, a customer will be asked for their name, contact number, email address, date of birth, and preferred Quickfive store. Once registration is complete, a customer will receive a Mbasela Rewards physical or virtual card with a membership number. Customers can complete their profile later with additional optional information. Each customer may only hold one Program membership. Collected customer data is handled in line with the Data Protection Act, 2021 (see Privacy Policy).

 

Accumulating Mbasela Points

  • To earn Mbasela Points, a Customer must identify themselves as a Program member at checkout by presenting their physical or virtual membership card or membership number before closing the receipt. Failure to do so will prevent the Mbasela Points from being credited to a customer’s account. For online purchases, Mbasela Points will be credited only after the products are collected or delivered, and in the event of a return, any previously credited Mbasela Points will be reversed.

  • A customer will earn 1 Mbasela Point for every fifty Kwacha (ZMW 50.00) spent at a Quickfive store or affiliate. Mbasela Points are calculated based on the total amount paid, including VAT but excluding any discounts or returns. An amount less than fifty Kwacha earns a customer a fraction of a Mbasela Point; for example, thirty Kwacha (K30.00) earns a customer 0.6 Mbasela Points.

  • Mbasela Points are valid for 12 months from the date they are accumulated.

  • Certain purchase categories, such as purchases from third-party non-affiliate companies, are excluded from earning Mbasela Points, e.g., purchase of MTN, Airtel, Zamtel, or ZedMobile airtime or ZESCO units.

  • Accumulated points can only be redeemed at a Quickfive store or affiliate for purchases or discounts, or exchanged for items such as electricity or fuel vouchers. Mbasela Points cannot be transferred or converted into cash, other goods, or services outside the program's offerings.

Customer Levels and Status

Customers will be divided into two status levels based on the number of Mbasela Points accumulated:

 

  • Standard Member: The default level automatically assigned to the Customer upon enrolment in the Program. This level grants a member access to general Quickfive discounts.

  • Quick-It Member: The level is reached when a customer accumulates 300 Mbasela Points within 12 months. In addition to general discounts, this level gives a member access to tailored and exclusive discounts as well as self-checkout services.

 

Note that these two levels are used solely to define the Customer's status within the Program and cannot be converted into cash, discounts, or products. Customers can monitor their Mbasela Rewards balance and status level via a receipt, WhatsApp, or through their account on the Quickfive website or mobile app. 

 

New Products

The Program will feature a "New Products" section. This section will feature new products at discounts for Program members. This will be available to both Standard and Quick-It members.

 

Discounts

Quickfive reserves the right to offer discounts to customers enrolled in the Program. The issuance of discounts will be at Quickfive’s discretion and subject to specific terms and conditions, such as a limited validity period, a minimum spend, applicability to certain products or categories, or the possibility (or not) of combining them with other offers or discounts. Program members will be notified of available discounts through various channels, such as WhatsApp, in-store advertisements, SMS, or via the Quickfive website or mobile app. All discounts will be redeemable at checkout. They have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash.

 

Program Term, Modification and Termination

  • The Mbasela Rewards program will begin on January 1, 2027. The Program will last for 12 months from the launch date, with the possibility of renewal. Upon expiration of the Program, Quickfive may renew, modify, or discontinue the Program and notify Customers accordingly.

  • Quickfive reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Program, in whole or in part, at any time, for commercial reasons, to comply with new legal requirements, or for other reasons. If there are significant changes or the Program is terminated, Quickfive commits to providing reasonable advance notice to Customers through email, contact number, Quickfive website or app, in-store communication, or other appropriate means, to ensure that the termination or changes do not affect Customers' existing rights.

  • Continued participation in the Program after changes come into effect will be deemed acceptance by the enrolled Customer.

  • Termination of the Program will result in the interruption of the accumulation of Mbasela Points and the loss of achieved status and related benefits. Quickfive may provide a transitional period to allow Customers to take advantage of the benefits accrued before the Program's complete termination.

  • Quickfive also reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the Program if it is not capable of operating as planned for reasons including, but not limited to, non-viability, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, bad faith, technical failures, or any other cause beyond Quickfive's control that compromises or affects the administration and operation of the Program.

 

Customer Rights and Responsibilities

The Customer is responsible for the truthfulness and accuracy of the information provided during Program registration and agrees to promptly update any changes. The Customer has the right to access information regarding their Mbasela Rewards balance and status level through the channels provided by Quickfive. Membership in the Program is personal and non-transferable. Any use of the Programme for commercial, resale, or fraudulent purposes is forbidden. Such activities may result in the immediate termination of Program membership and the forfeiture of accumulated Mbasela Points. The Customer is responsible for safeguarding their Program account login credentials.

 

Withdrawal from the Program

  • The Customer has the right to withdraw from the Program at any time, free of charge and without penalty, by notifying Quickfive of their intention to withdraw via the Quickfive website or app, in-store, or by sending a membership withdrawal notice to mbaselarewards@quickfive.co.zm.

  • Withdrawal from the Program will result in the immediate loss of all accumulated Mbasela Points and the termination of the benefits linked to membership level.

  • Quickfive reserves the right to remove a Customer from the Program, revoking their membership for just cause, by providing written notice specifying the reasons. Such revocation will prevent further accumulation of Mbasela Points on purchases and result in the forfeiture of benefits associated with the membership level. All previously accumulated Mbasela Points will be forfeited and cannot be used by or transferred to other Customers.

For any information, clarification, or complaints regarding the Program, Customers may contact Quickfive’s Mbasela Rewards team using the contact details below. Quickfive is committed to handling Customer requests and complaints promptly and efficiently, and to adopting internal procedures for resolving any disputes.

 

Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions are governed by Zambian law and must be interpreted in accordance with it, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Program will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Customer's place of residence or domicile in Zambia, as this is a mandatory jurisdiction for consumer protection.

 

Entire Agreement

These terms and conditions, together with the privacy policy and any other documents expressly referred to herein, form the entire agreement between Quickfive Retail Stores Limited and the Customer relating to the Program and supersede any previous communications or agreements, whether oral or written.

 

Severability

If any provision of these terms and conditions is deemed invalid or unenforceable, that invalidity or unenforceability shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any remaining provisions.
